The long awaited opening of Perth’s Yagan Square has finally arrived, and we already can’t get enough of the delicious eats on offer or the fact that alcohol can be purchased without a meal in the Market Hall and enjoyed within the complex…finally!
Yagan Square, named after the Noongar warrior leader, will have an official Bunuru Welcome, on March 23-25, however the doors opened over the weekend celebrating the launch of the new city square with free entertainment, family activities, roving performers, live music and Aboriginal dance performances, amongst the opening of all the exciting new food vendors delighting foodies across the city.
Located in the heart of Perth’s CBD close to the Horseshoe Bridge – Yagan Square will be the perfect CBD / Northbridge hub, offering more than just a food and shopping destination, it will connect our vibrant city spaces and celebrate our Perth community all while providing a new urban playground for all to enjoy.
The new Yagan Square has been designed to reflect WA’s natural landscape by merging the site’s history into the carefully planned areas. Offering open spaces for cultural events, celebrations and entertainment, an amphitheatre ‘Meeting Place’ and playscape including a rooftop water feature for children on the upper level, Horseshoe Lane at the northern end hosting restaurant and bars overlooking the square, the Market Place on ground floor as the foodie destination as well as the unique addition of digital displays from the iconic digital tower and canopies to light up the space at night.
The exciting new food precinct in the city is home to some amazing new players in the food scene and we can’t wait to eat our way through all of them! With a strong focus on WA produce and global flavours, Yagan Square has plenty on offer to suit all tastes.
The list of exciting food and drink venues offering a broad range of locally based food include Fish Boss, Henry Little, Ahi Poke, Hiss and Smoke, Street Eats Eatery, Wheat Street café, Troublemaker Burgers, Jersey Jack Gelato, Honeycake to name a few, with Lela Lu bomboloni doughnuts, clean-eating store Primal Pantry, Shy John Brewery and Yum Cha and Ficus opening in coming months.
